After a successful return from equine influenza in April this year , the Bates Sydney International Three-Day Event was conducted by Sydney International Eventing , from the 11th-14th September at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, Horsley Park.

The Asian Pacific Challenge Trophy, which had to be cancelled in 2007 due to the outbreak of equine influenza , resumed in Sydney International Equestrain Centre again. 

Riders from Japan, Malaysia, India, Indonesia and South Korea competed on their own and borrowed horses.

Both Teams did well and India 'A' won the competition and India 'B' was placed 2nd and Thailand was 3rd.

In the Individual competition , Lt Col G S Gill , riding Rancho Tallahasse was placed 8th after Dressage but had a clear round , in time over a technically challenging course designed by Wayne Copping , which saw many riders not completing in time or incurring refusals or fall.

Before Jumping , Lt Col Gill lying at 6th , had less than 4 penalties difference between the riders lying at 4th and 5th. 

Rancho Tallahase and Lt Col Gill came through the course with only one fence dropped 

However both the riders from Thailand had two drops each which resulted in Lt Col G S Gill to finish 3rd Individual .

Risaldar Gulab Singh was placed 6th.
