Results - FEI World Jumping Challenge Category A and B

Start: 2017-03-03 03:53:37

The six double clear combinations in the FEI World Jumping Category B resumed their duels on 12 December.

Round One of the Competition 2 saw the riders jumping over another challenging course. There were 12 clear rounds. However, Aditya Krishna on My Lady and Lt Col Deep Ahlawat on Karishma were the only two riders who had maintained their flawless performance over 3 rounds.

At the start of 4th round, odds were on Aditya Krishna and Lt Col Deep Ahlawat for the top 2 positions.

Close behind on 4 faults each , were 7 riders - Maj Rohit Dagar Taqdeer , Havildar P Basumatay Pralay, Risaldar Bhagirath on Glandyl Wolf , Master Bhargava on Fereneze , Shashank Shrishrimal on Mirza , Lance Dafedar Gajendar Singh astride Shivraj and Lt Col S S Rathore on Mr Mime.

Havildar Basumatay on Parlay had a clear round to put the pressure on the riders to follow. Maj Rohit Dagar, Master Bhargava , Risaldar Bhagirath followed suit.

Unexpectedly, there was a reversal of fortunes for Lt Col Deep Ahlawat and Aditya Krishna who could not repeat their earlier performances.

Thereon, the top finishers in the following order were Maj Rohit Dagar , Havildar Basumatay , Risaldar Bhagirath , Aditya Krishna , Master Bhargava and Shashank Shrishrimal.

On the 13 December, morning was the South India Equestrian Championship Preliminary Dressage test, which unearthed some outstanding new talent. First, about the diehard veterans in Dressage.

As expected , pleasing performances by Risaldar Bhagirath astride Glandyl Wolf  put up 65.91 % but Lt Col Deep Ahlawat VSM , astride Karishma beat him with 66.59 %.

Both were astounded by Sanjana Medappa astride Ruskin notching 66.81%, who rode a brilliant test , notwithstanding the fact that she started first in the draw.

However, Capt Rahul Dagar on Veer is establishing the fact that he will be seen at the highest level very shortly. His score of 69.77% put the issue beyond doubt of all.

The first round of competition Category A saw a tough course being challenged by 33 riders.

Best performers so far in the competition were Arun Maribashetty astride CJ-15 and Maj N S Sandhu astride Twister (hors concours entry) , riding clear rounds.

Ominous, at one drop each were Maj Salim Pathan astride Arjun , Maj Ravi Rathore on Remarkable , Havildar Kuldeep on Haifa and Risaldar Bhagirath on Guddu.

The last round began with a misty intermittent drizzle which could not deter Lt Col Deep Ahlawat , Maj N S Sandhu and Arun Maribashetty to put up clear rounds.

But end of the day, the combination of Maj N S Sandhu and Twister re-established total dominance in Jumping , closing the 4 rounds with only 4 penalties.

Remarkable, as much they were, the combination of Maj Ravi Rathore and (of course) Remarkable, a drop and one time penalty in the last round pushed them to number two.

The day belonged to the reigning National Champion pair of Arun and CJ-15 who won the competition.

The other placings were Lt Col Deep Ahlawat VSM on his old warhorse Mirza , Maj Salim Pathan on Arjun , Risaldar Bhagirath on Guddu and Nitin Gupta on Barasie.
