NOTICE : EQUINE INFUENZA VACCINATION

EQUINE INFUENZA VACCINATION
1. Please refer EFI calendar 2019-20.
2. All participants interested to participate in the following events scheduled during the EFI calendar events 2019-20 are advised to get their horses vaccinated against Equine Influenza well in advance in order to meet the veterinary protocol in vogue at the respective venues
(a) Show Jumping Coaching Camp wef 17 Nov to 26 Nov 2019 at ARC Mumbai.
(b) FEI World Challenge Jumping wef 29 Nov to 08 Dec 2019 at ARC Mumbai.
(c) FEI Asian Championship, Pattaya, Thailand wef 01 Dec to 08 Dec 2019
3. Article 1003 of FEI veterinary regulation is reproduced herein below for ready reference.
(a) All proprietary Equine Influenza vaccines are accepted by the FEI, provided the route of administration complies with the manufacturer’s instructions (i.e intramuscular injection or intranasal).
(b) An initial Primary Course of two vaccinations must be given; the second vaccination must be administered within 21-91 days of the first vaccination.
(c) The first booster must be administered within 7 calendar months following the date of administration of the second vaccination of the Primary Course.
(d) Booster vaccinations must be administered at a maximum of 12 month intervals however Horses competing in Events must have received a booster within 6 months +21 days (and not within 7days) before arrival at the Event.
(e) Horses may compete 7 days after receiving the second vaccination of the primary course.
(f) Horses that have received the Primary Course prior to 1 January 2005 are not required to fulfill the requirement for the first booster, providing there has not been an interval of more than 12 months between each of their subsequent annual booster vaccinations.
